Texas

Oh, well, we crossed the wild Pecos,
we forded the Nueces,
we swam the Guadalupe,
and we followed the Brazos.
Red River runs rusty,
the Wichita clear,
but down by the Brazos I courted my dear.

This may be trivial...


... but here are some photographs I have taken. My 35mm camera is almost officially broken, so these are probably the last. I am proud of myself for figuring out a new machine, and also for trying a new medium, though I do prefer polaroid photography. Anyway, here are some photographs for your perusal.

Exercises in Pencil

Jacob and I have recently become fascinated with the drawings found here: www.wendymacnaughton.blogspot.com. With my brand new sketch book, set of drawing pencils, and vague memories of past drawing classes, I set out to see what I could do. This is what I have come up with so far:









I haven't been able to capture the drama of Wendy's drawings, but I think I am on my way. I am quite certain that the future will bring more drawings, and maybe even a short story or two.

There is nothing more unsettling than the crumb of food that has been on the floor for three days or the beautiful moon hidden behind some large, concrete clouds. 

But, 

there is also nothing more soothing than the tinkling of the bell above the door of the corner store down the street.
